- Buy X get Y: This type of discount allows customers to receive a free product or discount when they purchase a certain number of items.

Steps to Create a Percentage or Fixed Discount on Shopify

Step 1: Go to the ‘Discounts’ Tab
From your Shopify store’s admin, you need to go to the Discounts tab on the left bar.

This will take you to the discounts window. Next, you need to click on Create Discount.
You’ll notice a pop-up window in front of you. Here, you need to select the discount type you wish to create. To create percentage-based discounts, choose from Amount Off Products or Amount Off Orders.
Step 3: Configure the Discount
Next, you need to work on configuring the discount settings.
Product discount Method
Decide if you want the discount on your Shopify store to be automatic or if they need to enter the discount code.
If you’ve opted for a discount code, either you can manually enter it in the tab or click on Generate to create a discount code for you.
To create automatic discounts, enter the discount title in the tab.
Value
Under the Value header, you need to choose from a percentage discount or a fixed amount discount.
Here, you need to select Percentage or Fixed Amount and enter the % of discount you’re willing to offer to your customers.
Applies to
In this section, you need to select where the discount is applied to. Here you’ll get two options to choose from. Those are:
- Specific Collections
- Specific Products
Sales Channels
Here, you need to select where the discount will be promoted to. You can select one or all based on where your discount to show up.
Minimum Requirements
In this section, you need to enter the minimum purchase requirements for the customers.
You can see options such as:
- No minimum requirements
- Minimum purchase amount
- Minimum quantity of items
If you want to go for no minimum requirements, select it and move ahead.
Next, if you want to set a minimum purchase amount to activate the discount, select it and enter the amount that they need to spend such that the customers can apply the discount on their order.
If you want to set a limit on the number of items, select the Minimum quantity of items and enter the specific value.
Customer Eligibility
Under the Customer Eligibility section, you need to select which customers or customer segments will be able to use the discounts.
Here, you’ll get 3 options to choose from:
- All customers
- Specific customer segments
- Specific customers
If you want to select specific customers, click on Browse and choose the customers that you want to make eligible for the discounts.
If you want to select customer segments, click on Browse and choose one of the below-mentioned segments:
- Customers who haven’t purchased
- Customers who have purchased more than once
- Abandoned checkouts in the last 30 days
- Email subscribers
Maximum Discount Uses
Next, you need to decide whether you want to limit the customers to the number of times they can use the discount on your Shopify store. Thus, you can select either of the two options:
- Limit to one use per customer
- Limit the number of times this discount can be used in total
If you’re willing to set a usage limit to the discount, you need to select it and enter the value.
Combinations
Here, you need to select if you want the current discount to be combined with other available discounts in your store.
Active Dates
Lastly, you need to select the starting and end dates for your discount to run on your Shopify store.
Step 4: Save & Promote Your Discount
Once you have configured the attributes of the discount, you can go through its detail on the right side of your screen.
If you’re OK with the configuration, click on Save Discount and it will be added to your Shopify store.

Steps to Create a Free Shipping on Shopify
Step 1: Go to the ‘Discounts’ Tab
From your Shopify store’s admin, you need to go to the Discounts tab on the left bar.
Step 2: Create a Discount

Countries

Shipping Rates

Customer Buys
In this section, you need to set the minimum quantity or purchase amount and the products to which you want to apply the coupon.
Customer Gets
Here, you need to select the items that are eligible for the discount. it even includes setting it as a percentage or free.
